FAQs

  • Why Electric Driving?
Electric driving is the future. This innovative form of mobility requires a new way of driving. The advantages of powerful batteries and electric motor, in combination with cheap “refueling”, make this form of mobility the solution of the future.
  • What are the advantages of Electric Driving?
Less maintenance than fuel engine SERES provide 7-year warranty | 150,000 KM Fast acceleration Better for the environment “Refuel” at home Cheaper than conventional fuel engines
  • Is an electric car more expensive than a petrol or diesel car?
The purchase price of an electric car is typically higher than that of fuel cars, but the price of electricity per kilometer driven is lower than that of petrol or diesel. The more you drive, the cheaper it will be. The best way to compare the cost of cars is to use their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): the cost of the car calculated over its entire lifecycle. The Total Cost of Ownership also takes into account insurance, taxes, resale value and operating costs, such as tyres, fuel and maintenance. If you charge at home or at work, electricity is a lot cheaper than petrol or diesel. And those who have solar panels or charge during the off-peak rate drive even cheaper. What’s more, an electric car requires less maintenance.
  • What affects my driving range?
The range of an electric car differs per model, but depends largely on 4 factors: Size of the battery: the amount of electricity a battery can store is expressed in kilowatt hours. This is called the capacity. The capacity depends on the size of the batteries. A large battery pack stores more energy than a smaller battery pack. There is also energy density. This is the relationship between the capacity and the size of the battery pack. The energy density increases thanks to new battery techniques. This is why smaller batteries are needed to store the same amount of electricity. Weather conditions: in summer with air-conditioning and in winter with heating, your range is likely to be 10-20% lower. The outside temperature affects the Battery, which also has to provide power for cooling or heating. Driving behaviour: quiet and defensive driving behaviour has a positive influence on your driving range. Hard acceleration and fast driving require much more energy. Type of road: On slower city or village roads you consume much less electricity than on the highway, so you can cover more kilometers. But also on the highway, the difference between 110 km/h or 130 km/h for your driving range is large. Additionally, Hong Kong has a mountainous terrain and this will affect your driving range too.
  • Why is electric driving better for the environment?
Various studies have proven that an electric car is better for the climate than its diesel or petrol counterpart. The car that is best for the climate is the car with the lowest CO2 emissions. The production of an electric car emits more CO2 than a fuel car, mainly due to the manufacture of the battery. However, these CO2 emissions vary greatly depending on how the electricity is used in production is generated. When an electric car charges, CO2 emissions vary depending on how the electricity is generated. Green electricity (solar panels, windmills….) does not emit CO2, grey electricity (gas, oil, coal….) does. While driving, an electric car does not emit any CO2 at all, while a petrol or diesel car does produce CO2 emissions due to the combustion of diesel or petrol in the engine. Overall, the electric car remains the most climate friendly. When it comes to CO2, electric cars are 3 times cleaner when you charge on grey electricity and even 5 times cleaner when they run on green electricity. In the future, more green electricity will be produced.
  • How much warranty do I get?
With SERES you get an 8 years or 150,000 km warranty on the most important part of an electric car, the battery pack. So, you can rely on the performance of your battery for 8 years, guaranteed.
  • How does an electric drive work?
When the electric car is started, the inverter takes the current from the batteries and forwards it to the electric motor. The electric motor then converts the electrical energy into mechanical energy, which then causes the wheels of the car to move.
  • What is regenerative braking?
Regenerative braking is an energy recovery mechanism that slows down a moving vehicle or object by converting its kinetic energy into a form that can be either used immediately or stored until needed. In this mechanism, the electric traction motor uses the vehicle's momentum to recover energy that would otherwise be lost to the brake discs as heat. This contrasts with conventional braking systems, where the excess kinetic energy is converted to unwanted and wasted heat due to friction in the brakes, or with dynamic brakes, where the energy is recovered by using electric motors as generators but is immediately dissipated as heat in resistors. In addition to improving the overall efficiency of the vehicle, regeneration can significantly extend the life of the braking system as the mechanical parts will not wear out very quickly.
  • Where can I load?
At home – do you have your own parking space at home? Then you can have a charging station installed at your home. Such a charging station often comes with its own cable, so you can easily connect it to your car. At work – is there a charging station at your work? Then use the charging cable supplied with your car. At a fast-charging station – It is of course preferable to be on the road again as soon as possible after re-charging your battery. Luckily there are fast charging stations. Here it takes only 20 to 40 minutes to recharge your battery for 80%. That will save you a few hours compared to regular charging points. In your neighborhood – don’t have the opportunity to have a charging station at your home or are you on your way? Then you can make use of a public charging station soon to be installed in your Hong Kong neighborhood or at a public car park.
  • How long does it take to charge?
How fast your battery recharges depends, among other things, on the size of the battery pack and the technical equipment. The type of charging station also has an influence on how quickly your battery is full again. As already mentioned, an ordinary charging station delivers alternating current. Do you use a quick charger? Then the battery will be charged a lot faster.
  • Are electric cars safer in traffic?
All new car models coming into the market first have to pass all kinds of safety tests. These are required by law by means of crash tests, called NCAP tests. Electric cars achieve good results, therefore at least as safe as diesel or petrol cars.
  • What are the advantages of lithium insert phosphate batteries at SERES?
Super-fast charging Unlimited interim charging Long lifespan Long manufacturer’s warranty of 7 years / 10,000 hours More stable and safer 100% maintenance-free Environmentally friendly No need for a complex charging station, a socket outlet is sufficient too.
  • How sustainable is electric driving?
Electric driving is the most sustainable and economical way of driving. Unlike regular fuel cars, SERES electric cars do not emit any CO2 or nitrogen while driving. Charging an electric car also uses green electricity. In addition, many parts of the SERES electric cars can be recycled or reused during the production of new electric cars. In short, electric driving is currently the most sustainable way of driving.
